Spring is finally here and you know what that means: time to spruce up your space! Adding a little fun to your child’s room is easier than you may think. To get you inspired, MommyNoire spoke to Michelle Freedburg, co-owner of Bellini Baby & Teen Furniture and frequent Project Nursery contributor for her exclusive tips on how to change your little one’s room from drab to fab!

1. A Fresh Coat of Paint: on the ceiling! A great way to add a powerful burst of color is to pick an accent color that works with your decor and do two coats on your ceiling. It’s an easy DIY project and an inexpensive way to make a statement. Pick a bolder color than you might otherwise be afraid to use on the wall. I love navy or coral.

2. Rearrange to Make it New. One of my favorite all year round design tips is to rearrange the furniture in your room. Changing positioning of the furniture can totally revamp the feel of the entire space. It’s a trick we use in merchandising and it works in your home as well.

3. Pillows. Getting some fun new pillows for your little one’s bed or even a glider is a fun and easy way to bring in new textures, patterns or even to change color scheme. There are so many great pillow options on the market now with fabulous patterns and shapes, that sometimes these little accents can make a huge statement.

4. Let your Walls Do the Talking. The great thing about artwork is that it’s so easy to change out pieces. As your child gets older they may be out growing some of the pieces you had originally picked for the nursery, so freshen up the look and make it age appropriate by simply changing out the artwork for something your child is into at the time. Frame a cool superhero poster, or even vintage records. For little girls, I love the idea of vintage fashion magazine covers, or even framing their own artwork.

5. Clean It Out: Spring is the perfect time for, well, spring cleaning. Use this time to get rid of junk that has been collected over the past year and dump it! Organize a closet, clean out the drawers, de-clutter shelves and counter space. This simple exercise will make a huge difference in any room.

Michelle’s Favorites Places for Finishing Touches:

Pillows: For gorgeous toss pillows to compliment any room try John Robshaw Textiles
Wall Hangings -For sweet and stylish wall hangings, I love Sam Simon Projects
Paints: For non-toxic paint free of  solvents, glycol and other harmful toxins, check out Lullaby Paints for uncompromisingly beautiful paints.
